Founder and Director of the Orfeó Balear. He trained as a pianist at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de las Islas Baleares, obtaining the highest qualifications. He later expanded his studies in musicology, organ, and orchestral conducting at the Katarina Gurska Conservatorio Superior in Madrid. He is director of the Orfeó Santa Maria, the Orfeó Balear, and the Orquestra Camerata Balear, and founder of the production company Oníric Espectacles, with which he has performed more than 150 opera and classical music performances around the Balearic Islands. He has also conducted the Youth Choir of the Teatro Principal in Palma and is principal conductor of the European Symphony Orchestra, the resident orchestra of the Palma Auditorium.

He has conducted the Danube Palace Orchestra in Hungary, the Diesis Orchestra in Almeria, and the Katarina Gurska Orchestra in Madrid, among others. He has also conducted various choirs in Mallorca and has conducted polyphonic concerts throughout Europe.

MERCEDES FUENTES

Founder and Manager of the Orfeó Balear. She is currently responsible for the management and coordination of the organization's orchestral and choral groups, as well as for communications. Trained in the world of theater since childhood, she studied acting and singing from the age of 8, debuting with small roles in plays, operas, and zarzuelas. She has been a singing student of several teachers at the Mallorca Conservatory of Music, as well as of Professor Michelle Wegwart, vocal consultant for the Paris Opera and the Bolshoi Theater. Later, she completed her musical training with piano studies. She holds a degree in English Philology and furthered her education with a Master's degree in group management and dynamics from the Open University of Catalonia (UOC). An artist and painter, she has exhibited extensively in Mallorca, Barcelona, and Madrid, and is also a set designer for the production company Oníric Espectacles. She also trained in the world of communications, serving as director of Arko Editorial from 2014 to 2022. She is the Balearic Islands delegate for the Greci Marino International Academy of Art. In 2016, she received the Europa Forum Medal of Excellence for her professional career.

MARIEMI ANTÓN

Public Relations for the Orfeó Balear and a key player in the organization. Her career with the Orfeó dates back to its first year of founding. She has been a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist since 1981, with a degree in Integrative Medicine from Birchman University and a Master's degree in Traditional Western Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of Murcia. She is also a professor at the Asclepios Institute in Madrid. A lover of music and nature, she is an active member of the Orfeó Balear. She believes that music offers healing and nourishing power in all its forms.

JORDI CUBAIN

Institutional Relations of the Orfeó Balear. Jordi Cubain is a marketing and communication professional with more than twenty-five years of experience in the sector. He has led and developed projects for leading local brands in the Balearic Islands, as well as for national and international companies. As an entrepreneur, he has created and managed various companies linked to advertising, innovation, and services. He combines his professional activity with university teaching, currently at UIB and CES Felipe Moreno Nebrija, in areas such as marketing, market research, and digital communication. He has participated in the organization and coordination of conferences, fairs, and cultural events. He has also been involved in social and volunteer projects on the island. His experience blends strategic creativity with business and institutional management. He is a baritone in the Orfeó and firmly believes that singing is one of the highest forms of creativity and is accessible to everyone. He believes that the Orfeó Balear is an excellent opportunity to democratize high-quality music within Balearic society.

MIQUEL ESTELRICH

Vocal technique and Singing professor at the Orfeó Balear. A Mallorcan tenor and teacher with a degree in Music Education, he began his singing studies at the Professional Conservatory of Music and Dance of the Balearic Islands, where he also completed the Advanced Vocal Grade. He has received training from renowned singers such as Sylvia Corbacho and Miguel Sola. He later moved to Barcelona to continue his vocal training with Carmen Bustamante, Francesca Roig, and Eduardo Giménez.
In the operatic field, he has performed roles such as Ruiz in Verdi's Il trovatore, among others. As a tenor soloist, he has also sung Handel's Messiah, Beethoven's Fantasia for Piano, Chorus, and Orchestra, Op. 80, and other works in the genre. In the zarzuela field, he has starred in roles such as Eloi in Rafael Martínez Valls's Cançó d'amor i de guerra, the only surviving zarzuela in Catalan. In addition to his artistic career, he has taught at various music schools such as Musicalen, Dos Punt Dos, Asunaro, and Obradors de Músics. He is currently a member of the Orfeó Balear, where, in addition to singing, he also teaches weekly vocal coaching sessions.

MALENA MONCADAS

 

Director of the Orfeó Infantil Balear, the choir school for children aged 7 to 15. She is a pianist and singer specializing in jazz. A graduate in piano from the Conservatorio Superior (Higher Conservatory), she has won several awards at the Vila de Capdepera International Piano Competition, the 7th Sóller Youth Musical Competition, and the Rotary Club Piano Competition. She has participated in operas such as El Arca de Noé and Maria Moliner, and has been part of the musical A Shop in Paris and Euroversion by the Companyia Daltmurada. She has also worked as an accompanying pianist with various groups on the island, such as the Orfeó Santa Maria. Following her musical curiosity in the world of singing and jazz, she has taken modern music classes with Clara Luna, Marie Martin, Anna Ferrer, and Marian Lush, and sings at various events. She is currently immersed in the Barroco Jazz project, with which she is performing concerts throughout Mallorca.
